Gir Forest National Park which is also known as "SASAN" is located in Gujarat. Besides Africa, Gir National Park in Gujarat is the only place in the world where you can spot lions roaming free in Jungle. The population of the lion is significantly high in this area around 523 as per Census 2015 which gives more chances of spotting them. Apart from lions; Gir is reached in terms of Flora and Fauna. The main herbivores of Gir are chital, nilgai, sambar, four-horned antelope, chinkara, and wild boar. Blackbucks from the surrounding area are sometimes seen in the sanctuary. Gir National Park and Sanctuary does not have a designated area for tourists.

To reduce environmental hazards to wildlife, a separate Zone has been created at Devalia within the sanctuary which is having chained fences and covers all habitat types and wildlife of Gir with its feeding-cum-living cages for the carnivores and a double-gate entry system. Club Mahendra has an excellent property situated in the middle of the Jungle.

The property has various room types. We visited Gir 2 times. Have stayed in the tent as well as in-studio and 1 BR. All rooms are excellent. The food and the staff is very friendly. BF is especially amazing as they carve out the menu in such a fashion that every day you can taste various Gujarati dishes along with tastes of other parts of the world. "SABUDANA KHICHADI" in BF ...don't miss. And yes kids don't miss to have PIZZA over there. Amazing taste and worth of money....
